FAQ
When do the clocks change in the United States?
The US and Canada move clocks forward on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. Hawaii and most of Arizona do not change at all.
When do the clocks change in Europe?
The European Union and the United Kingdom move forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October. Every EU country switches at the same moment, 01:00 UTC.
Why do regions change on different weekends?
Each country sets its own rules. The Northern and Southern Hemispheres shift in opposite directions because their summers are six months apart, and within each hemisphere countries often pick different weekends.
Which places do not observe daylight saving time?
Most of Asia and Africa, including China, Japan, and India, plus Queensland in Australia and Hawaii and most of Arizona in the United States. Their UTC offsets stay the same all year.
Does the time difference between two cities change during the year?
Often, yes. If one city observes DST and the other does not, or if they change on different dates, the gap between them shifts by an hour for part of the year. The timezone converter applies the right offset for any date.
