What 11:11 means
The "make a wish at 11:11" custom is at least a few decades old and spread the way most playground traditions do, by word of mouth. Numerology later attached its own reading: the number 1 stands for beginnings and intent, so four of them in a row became a symbol of alignment, a moment when what you are thinking about is worth taking seriously. Angel number writing goes further and treats 11:11 as a message. None of this is testable, and it does not need to be. The practical version is simpler: 11:11 is a small, shared, twice-daily pause. Use it to notice what you want.
Why you keep seeing it
You look at a clock dozens of times a day and forget nearly all of them. Once 11:11 carries meaning for you, the glances that hit it get remembered and the rest do not. Psychologists call the broad effect selective attention, and the specific "now it is everywhere" feeling the frequency illusion. It is the same reason you see your new car model on every street. The pattern is real; the frequency is not higher than it was before you started counting.
